The Ember Fund was started in 2018 as a charitable foundation in Calgary, AB. Inspired by a founding member’s journey whose toxic upbringing with drugs, violence, sexual abuse and food insecurity in both the home and community led to the loss of a brother - a friend, a singer, a dad, and a young man.
The abuse, vulnerability, stressors and habits formed from this environment are continued obstacles for those without access to true support at pivotal moments in their life. Knowing this, is what drives us to find charities that help youth with similar struggles and truly invest in their journey.
After years of supporting initiatives through one-off donations, the Ember Fund was built to direct funding in a way that can better support the organisations we see building the systemic change we believe in.
